Hi! 👋 i'm Sarah Day. I'm a self-taught illustrator originally from Encinitas, with a heart that holds pieces of Melbourne, Memphis, and Santa Cruz inside. Right now I live with my partner Nick and our dog, Santi, in Seattle, WA.

I never really intended to become a full-time artist... I was originally on a fast-track out of college to start rabbinical school, but somewhere along the way my body intervened & the hyper-fast-paced career I had been gunning for became completely out of my reach. Turns out that was okay. Turns out I think I was meant to be here 💝 and turns out that art has given me so so so many unexpected gifts and community.

My artistic interests have evolved over the years quite a bit...I began in 2015 with hand lettering (that was a great entry point for me because it helped me learn how to recognize shapes, gain some fine motor control, and break down new subject matter into manageable chunks). I moved on to drawing small illustrations & as I transitioned into working in the cannabis industry (and, uh, consuming a lot of cannabis) my subject matter broadened & my work got weirder, and my brand "sarah day arts" was born.

Finally in 2018, when I moved to Memphis with my partner Nick, I took the biz mostly-full-time (with some synagogue gig-teaching on the side, because i can't help myself). I've never really stopped following my gut & chasing what makes me hungry to draw.

In some ways this business has gotten wildly more professional & tightly-operated (because now i actually live off this!), but in other ways I'm still just figuring it out day by day, year by year.
